Educating Parents About Higher Education
As a parent/guardian of a MLT participant, you're invited to attend the opening sessions on the first day of the program. You’ll have the opportunity to learn more about the college experience, financial aid, and how to best support your student as they pursue a health care profession.
During the week, students participate in leadership activities, academic workshops and medical career exploration activities. MLT provides a team of resident assistants who will provide supervision at all times in the Zoom sessions and during program activities. Mentors are successful premedical students selected by the MLT faculty and staff to be mentors and role models for the high school students.
At the end of the Summer Program, you're invited to attend to closing session where students present the group project that they have been working on throughout the week.
What Parents of Past Participants Have Said
"I thought it was a real eye opener for me. Learning to understand the financial aid process and how hard the system tries to help the students. I learned a lot just in a short time."
"I’m really grateful that there is such a very good program like this and adds to the encouragements to our children to achieve their goal or dream."
